FOUNDATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS RECEIVES GENEROUS ANONYMOUS DONATIONS

BLOOMFIELD, CT – April 29, 2010 The Foundation for the Advancement of Catholic Schools (FACS) is pleased to announce the receipt of two generous gifts from an anonymous donor totaling $200,000. The gifts, one received in October 2009 and the other just last week were facilitated through the law firm of Reid & Riege, PC, a Hartford law firm. FACS has been fortunate to have received other gifts from the same anonymous donor throughout the Foundation’s 27 year history.

“The Anonymous Donor has been a true friend, not only to the Foundation, but also to the many students who benefit from this generous gift”, said Cynthia Basil Howard, Director of Development of FACS. “These gifts enable our Foundation to make a profound difference in the lives of many families who want to give their children the gift of a Catholic education. We are most grateful for the donor’s generosity and we send out our thanks from the bottom of our hearts”.

FACS is a Section 501 (c)(3) corporation located in Bloomfield, Connecticut. FACS’s mission is to provide scholarships to deserving students attending Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford and to help fund special projects in the Archdiocese’s Catholic schools. The Foundation provides over $450,000 each year in tuition assistance to hundreds of students in the Archdiocese of Hartford who attend the Catholic elementary and Archdiocesan high schools. “Our Foundation is most proud of the accomplishments of the students we support.” said Foundation President, Laura Baldini. “Last year, the students in the Archdiocesan high schools had a 100% graduation rate and the students in our Catholic schools scored above state and national averages on standardized reading, math and writing tests. We couldn’t be more thrilled for the students and their families”, said Baldini.
