FACS Receives 30K Grant from the Hartford Foundation

Hartford, Conn. – (July 19, 2013) A grant of $30,000 has been awarded to the Foundation for the Advancement of Catholic Schools (FACS) in Bloomfield by the Raymond H. Deck Family Designated Fund in memory of Kevin F. Deck at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The grant will provide scholarships to students who attend Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford.

“We are most thankful to the Deck family and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving for generously providing this grant. This will give students across the Archdiocese an opportunity to receive a quality, faith-filled education, said Executive Director of FACS Cynthia Basil Howard. “Raymond H. Deck worked tirelessly to assist students in Catholic schools and supported the important work of this Foundation; he was a well-respected and admired man.”

Howard is proud of FACS and what it has been able to accomplish over the last thirty years for its Catholic students. “FACS supports students attending Catholic schools across the Archdiocese, and it is grants, donations from generous individuals and businesses, special events and planned gifts that make that support possible,” Howard added.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is the community foundation for the 29-town Greater Hartford region, dedicated to improving the quality of life for area residents. The Hartford Foundation receives gifts from thousands of generous individuals and families and in 2012 awarded grants of more than $27 million to a broad range of area non-profit organizations.
