FACS Awards Over 300K in Scholarships to Catholic Students in the Archdiocese of Hartford

Hartford, Conn.
The Foundation for the Advancement of Catholic schools (FACS) is pleased to report that to date they have awarded 268 scholarships in the amount of $332,051.00 for the academic year 2015-2016. FACS anticipates that an additional $77,000 will be awarded in the fall after the upcoming Archbishop’s Columbus Day Breakfast in October, which benefits 13 Greater New Haven Catholic Elementary Schools.

This year, FACS received an anonymous donation of $100,000 which will benefit students in the Greater Hartford area. Another new FACS fund will benefit 31 new students in the 2015-2016 academic. Last year, this same fund benefited 19 children.

Annually, FACS distributes approximately $400,000 in scholarship awards.

It is important to note that FACS scholarships help deserving students, without regard to race or religion, to secure an excellent education in a small classroom setting with personal attention.

“It is through the kindness and thoughtful generosity of donors that we are able to help students experience the high academic standards of a Catholic school education as well as the spiritual component that will help them grow into well-rounded adults who will thrive in the workplace and give back to their communities,” says FACS Executive Director Cynthia Basil Howard. “We are enormously grateful for the critically important investment of our donors, yet there remain many more deserving students who send us applications that we wish we were able to award and assist. There is a great need to help these precious children and I encourage people who may be able to help us preserve the power of this excellent education to call us.” adds Howard.
